Lighting workshop

Rembrandt Lighting - looks like it has a source in the scene, more natural

Basic set up - use 1 main key light and a reflector, high constrast
for example:

Advanced Set up - use a key light, fill light and a back light. WHen its correct, a triangle of light appears on shadowed side of face.

Also an example for Low Key Lighting - more shadows, greater contrast (chiaroscuro)

High Key Lighting - less shadow, lower contrast

Edward Hopper, American Realist
Nighthawks 1942,
Rembrandt lighting, Low Key Lighting

Summer Interior 1901
Basic lighting, High Key lighting

House by the Railroad, 1925
Advanced Lighting, Low Key lighting

Hitchcock's Psycho 1960, influenced by Hopper's House

Another ‘film house’ is the one above, from Fight Club, 1999, like the other two, gaining psychical inspiration from Hopper's painting.
